St. Barbora Church in Kutna Hora

The focus will be on composition, shooting in low-light, and getting compelling shots in new unknown locations. Our photographer can help you to set a correct exposure and will be at your disposal for your photographic questions. You can learn a lot during the full day of shooting.

Program

We will visit Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) which is unique for its decoration consisting of more than 40 000 different bones and skeletons. This church will make it to your list of the most unusual churches you have ever seen and possibly the strangest one, too.

The next stop will take us to the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist, with an interesting interior, tall ceiling, large windows, and famous Santini’s spiral staircase. This church is sometimes called the Church of Light and is one of the UNESCO Heritage sites in Kutná Hora.

We will have a lunch break at a traditional Czech restaurant.

After lunch, we will walk through the historical city center also listed in UNESCO. We get to the viewpoint of the city and visit the stunning Church of St. Barbara, which is one of the most famous Gothic churches in Central Europe. We will focus more on its exterior which provides more photography opportunities. However, we will also photograph from the inside and finally will be able to use a tripod.

After we finish shooting, we head back to Prague.

Frequently asked questions

Using flash and a tripod at two churches is forbidden, but only one allows it. We will have to use high ISO speeds (1600 and more) or fast lenses to get sharp images. Modern DSLR, mirrorless, or high-end point-and-shoot cameras are highly recommended thanks to their ability to handle high ISO speeds well and not produce too much noise.
