Our photography day-trip to Kutná Hora will take you to the best locations for photography in Kutná Hora. It’s an ideal one-day trip from Prague. If you only want to visit Sedlec Ossuary, see here.

We will be a small group of up to four photographers. The focus will be on composition, shooting in low-light and getting compelling shots in new unknown locations. Our photographer can help you to set a correct exposure and will be at your disposal for your photographic questions. You will learn a lot.

We start at 7,30 am and return to Prague at 6 pm. Kutná Hora is only one hour train ride from the capital.

We will visit Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) which is unique for its decoration consisting of more than 40 000 different bones and skeletons. This church will make it to your list of the most unusual churches you have ever seen and possibly the weirdest one, too. This one is also possible as a half-day photo tour.

Next stop will take us to Church of Madonna’s Ascension with interesting interior, tall ceiling, large windows and famous Santini’s spiral staircase. This chuch is sometimes called the Church of Light and is one of UNESCO Heritage sites in Kutná Hora.

We will have a lunch break at a traditional Czech restaurant.

After lunch we will walk through the historical city center also listed in UNESCO. We get to a viewpoint of the city and visit stunning Church of St. Barbara which is one of the most famous gothic churches in Central Europe. We will focus more on its exterior which provides more photography opportunities. However we will also photograph from the inside and finally will be able to use a tripod.

From here we will take a taxi to the train station and head back to Prague.

DSLR, mirrorless or high-end point and shoot cameras are recommended thanks to their ability to shoot in low-light conditions without producing too much noise.

  • DSLR, mirrorless or high-end compact camera
  • wide-angle lens (telephoto and mid-range prime like 50 mm come in handy, too)
  • memory card with space for ~200 pictures in RAW
  • charged batteries
  • cleaning kit

Frequently asked questions

Is hotel pick-up included? Where do we meet?

If there is no one else attending the tour, I can provide you with a hotel pick-up given that your hotel is conveniently located in the city center. Otherwise we meet in front of the entrance to the Main train station (Hlavní nádraží) from the park (not from the highway). Its GPS coordinates are 50.084089, 14.434150, see the map.

Ask your hotel to arrange a taxi for you or use Uber and go to the Main train station and tell the driver that you want to arrive from the park side, not the highway. The Uber ride should cost up to 200 CZK (8 EUR) if you live in the city center.

How much is the deposit?

There is no deposit needed. I expect it’s a common courtesy to let me know when you cannot make the tour a few days beforehand.

How can I pay?

You can pay in cash (in CZK, EUR or USD) or by a payment card Visa, V PAY, Mastercard or Maestro.

What if my loved one wants to go, but is not a photographer?

Take her or him with us! As long as he’s patient and doesn’t mind spending two hours in a church with us watching us shooting. There is an additional charge of 30 EUR for each additional non-photographer joining us.
